The 2023 Dallas Amateur Championship presented by Omni Hotel & Resorts was another resounding success thanks to golfers throughout DFW. A double celebration took place on Sunday in the Men's Open Division, Douglas Haick, celebrated his birthday with a 3 under par and placed 1st in the competition. Trent Groth, a first-time DAC participant took 1st place in the Men's Net by 5 strokes against runner-up Shuja Mir. The highlight of the weekend was the Women's Open Division 5-hole playoff. Kaci McCartan, the 2019 DAC Champion took 1st place over Rachel Smith, the 2022 DAC Champion. In the Men's Senior Open Division, Alex Moore, was crowned as the 2023 DAC Champion. Alex was even for both rounds and won against runner-up Scott Wagoner by a 3-shot lead.
A championship field of approximately 117 male and female participants played the two-day championship at Trinity Forest Golf Club on July 22nd & 23rd. Net proceeds benefited the I AM a Golfer Foundation and its mission of being a catalyst for community renewal and transformation in south Dallas through the Programming, Preservation, and Promotion of the historic Cedar Crest GC.
A very big thank you to Omni Hotels & Resorts for once again serving as presenting sponsor and to SMU Cox School of Business, Align Capital Partners, and All Around HVAC Service for leading the way as Premier Partners. The support of the sponsors and players is what makes the DAC flourish and allows for a) the crowning of a Dallas Amateur Champion and b) the IAMGF to achieve its vision of a fully restored, flourishing Cedar Crest Golf Course and community.
