To say that Wyatt K. "grew up" at Cedar Crest and I AM a Golfer Foundation (IAMGF) would be quite the understatement. Through ambition, grit, a supportive mother, coaches, and the ever-warm environment of Cedar Crest, Wyatt has grown to be the embodiment of seizing and building upon presented opportunities.
Starting in golf at the age of six, Wyatt's early classroom was the golf course. As soon as IAMGF was formed, Wyatt joined and took advantage of every opportunity the organization afforded him. The lessons and opportunities directly correlated to life and the Foundation became a true launchpad when it offered him his first job and internship right here at Cedar Crest.
For the past four years, Wyatt has gained invaluable experiences as an IAMGF intern, steadily growing from assisting with the upkeep of golf carts to serving key roles within event operations to his current role of lead intern - mentoring others who will now walk the same path as he did.
Wyatt's dedication in the classroom matches his work ethic and has earned him IAMGF's highest scholar awards for the past two years, paving his way to Southern University in Baton Rouge. A standout freshman on the college golf team, Wyatt recently showed a rare maturity by choosing to sit out his sophomore season to focus on his demanding Electrical Engineering studies - a wise sacrifice for his long-term future.
When not on the course or in the classroom, Wyatt loves trying new things, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. His commitment over the next few years is to earn his EE degree, land a design-engineering role, pursue his Master's degree, and give back to the Cedar Crest community through mentoring others.
We are unbelievably proud of Wyatt and his success to date. His story is the I AM a Golfer Foundation mission personified; proving that with opportunity and belief, the future for young people here in southern Dallas truly is bright.
