The I AM a Golfer Foundation’s Internship Program at Cedar Crest Golf Course provides paid, hands-on learning opportunities for high school and college students. Designed to develop professional skills and real-world experience, our program helps interns build a strong foundation for their careers while making a meaningful impact in the community.

Interns will gain experience in areas such as administration, fundraising, coaching, marketing, and golf operations. Through mentorship and engagement, participants will develop key competencies highly valued by employers.

We offer several internship positions tailored to different interests and skill levels:

Fundraising & Program Administration Intern

Fundraising & Program Administration Intern

Education Level: Must be a High School Graduate, Currently Enrolled at a College or University
Term Periods: May 19 – August 10
Average Hours per Week: 25
# of Availabile Positions: 2
Compensation: $12.00/hour
College Scholarship Eligiblity: Eligible for a 2025/2026 Scholarship (Application Period July 5- July 20)
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and donor engagement activities.
  • Provide administrative support for foundation programs, including documentation and outreach.
  • Coordinate and assist with special events and community initiatives.
  • Support grant research and sponsorship outreach.
  • Maintain donor databases and prepare fundraising reports.

Marketing & Communications Intern

Marketing & Communications Intern

Education Level: Must be a High School Graduate, Currently Enrolled at a College or University
Term Periods: May 19 – August 10
Average Hours per Week: 25

Compensation: $12.00/hour
College Scholarship Eligiblity: Eligible for a 2025/2026 Scholarship (Application Period July 5- July 20)
Responsibilities:
  • Develop marketing materials and social media content.
  • Capture and edit photos and videos for promotional use.
  • Assist with email campaigns, newsletters, and website updates.
  • Engage with community partners, sponsors, and participants.
  • Support event marketing, signage, and promotions.

Junior Coach Intern (College-Level)

Junior Coach Intern (College-Level)

Education Level: Must be a High School Graduate, Currently Enrolled at a College or University
Term Periods: May 19 – August 10
Average Hours per Week: 16

Compensation: $12.00/hour
College Scholarship Eligiblity: Eligible for a 2025/2026 Scholarship (Application Period July 5- July 20)
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and assist in junior golf clinics, providing structured instruction and mentorship.
  • Develop lesson plans and training strategies for junior golfers.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor, fostering leadership and teamwork.
  • Coordinate on-course activities, etiquette training, and skills development sessions.
  • Assist in organizing and executing junior golf tournaments and summer golf camps.
  • Collaborate with golf professionals to enhance coaching techniques and event execution.

Golf & Tournament Operations Intern (College-Level)

Golf & Tournament Operations Intern (College-Level)

Education Level: Must be a High School Graduate, Currently Enrolled at a College or University
Term Periods: May 19 – August 10
Average Hours per Week: 20

Compensation: $12.00/hour

Responsibilities:
  • Take a leadership role in coordinating and managing tournament operations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing event logistics and operational strategies.
  • Assist with drafting interdepartmental tournament communications
  • Oversee scoring software and reporting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide on-site event support, assisting with awards presentations and golfer experiences.
  • Work closely with the golf course management team to enhance operational flow and efficiency.

Education Level: Must be Currently Enrolled as a High School Junior or Senior
Term Periods: March 10 – August 10 & September 1 – December 21
Average Hours per Week: 16

Compensation: $10.00/hour
College Scholarship Eligiblity: Eligible for a 2025/2026 Scholarship (Application Period July 5- July 20)
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in coaching junior golf clinics and mentoring youth participants.
  • Help set up and break down instruction stations.
  • Provide on-course guidance and etiquette coaching.
  • Support planning and execution of tournaments and events.
  • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline.

Education Level: Must be Currently Enrolled as a High School Junior or Senior
Term Periods: March 10 – August 10 & September 1 – December 21
Average Hours per Week: 20
# of Availabile Positions: 3
Compensation: $10.00/hour
College Scholarship Eligiblity: Eligible for a 2025/2026 Scholarship (Application Period July 5- July 20)
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with tournament preparation, registration, and scoring.
  • Work with course staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Help with golf cart staging, range setup, and pace-of-play management.
  • Support golf shop operations and customer service.
  • Assist in executing large-scale golf events.

Internship Projects & Learning Engagements

Our summer interns engage in meaningful projects and learning experiences that contribute to their professional growth. Some of our past projects include:

  • Videography Projects: Capturing and editing video content for marketing and social media.

  • Event Planning Projects: Organizing junior golf tournaments, community engagement events, and fundraising initiatives.

  • Giving Back to the Community: Volunteering in local projects that support youth development and golf accessibility.

In addition to project-based learning, our interns have participated in exciting learning engagement experiences, such as:

  • Charles Schwab Financial Literacy Workshops – Gaining valuable insights on financial management and planning.

  • Visit to Southwest Airlines – Learning about corporate leadership, customer service, and operational excellence.

  • UT Southwestern Educational Tour – Exploring careers in healthcare and leadership within the medical industry.

These engagements help interns develop real-world skills, expand their networks, and gain a broader perspective on career opportunities beyond the golf industry.
