    Internship Program

We are seeking 18 passionate and inquisitive students to join our 2022 I AM an Intern Program at Cedar Crest Golf Course in Dallas, TX. Our program provides paid internships to local high school and college students, and an opportunity to gain real-world work experience while pursuing their education. 

Our intern program focuses on developing core competencies needed for any career path our young interns decide to take. Our interns are assigned tasks and projects that test their skill development process.

Our program is perfect for youth and young adults who show interest in developing a career in Business (General Business Management, Marketing, or Accounting), Golf Course Management, Sports Management, Retail and/or Merchandising, or Event Management. However, regardless of an intern's career aspirations, the I AM a Golfer Internship Program is open to anyone ages 16 to 24 who is looking to gain work experience and develop skills that are necessary to succeed in any career field.

Golf Services Intern

Golf Services Intern

Job Overview: This position focuses on developing an intern’s communication and interpersonal skills. Interns in this position will serve as a liaison between the golf shop and the customer, helping to ensure the guests' experience is exceptional and the pace of play is being followed. This position is also responsible for the daily preparation and upkeep of golf carts, the driving range/practice facilities, and the course beautification.

Term of Internship: The intern will work 260 to 320 hours between March 21st – July 10th and/or 260 to 320 hours between July 25th – November 20th

Number of Positions Available: 6

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with course beautification projects, including the daily upkeep and liter control around the golf course, parking lot, and clubhouse perimeters.
  • Assist with daily set up of the driving range practice tees, putting green, and short game areas.
  • Assist with golf cart staging.
  • Assist with course starter operations.
  • Assist with tournament operations as directed, as needed.
  • Assist with the set-up for junior camps, clinics, and guest groups, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Applicants Qualifications:
  • Must be a high school sophomore, junior, or senior. No GPA minimum requirement.
  • Must have reliable transportation
Compensation: This is a paid internship. The intern will receive $9 per hour and will work a total of 320 hours between March 21st – July 10th and/or July 25th – November 20th.

Golf Program Intern

Golf Program Intern

Job Overview: This position focuses on developing an intern’s time management, adaptability, and communication skills. Interns in this position will assist with golf programs; providing instruction assistance and completing the setup and breakdown of golf programs. This position will also be responsible for assisting with golf tournaments and assisting with the upkeep of the driving range/practice facilities.

Term of Internship: The intern will work 260 to 320 hours between March 21st – July 10th and/or 260 to 320 hours between July 25th – November 20th

Number of Positions Available: 4

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with pre-program planning, such as creating participant lists, program materials, and more.
  • Assist with on-site responsibilities such as registration, course set up, starting, scoring, and awards presentation for golf programs.
  • Assist with the instruction of youth instructional programs and clinics.
  • Assist with effective communication with parents, juniors, and other intern staff.
  • Assist with research as directed, as needed.
  • Assist with reconciliation of program results and summaries.

Applicants Qualifications:
  • Must be at minimum a high school junior. Preference is given to high school seniors and college students. No GPA minimum requirement.
  • Must have playing experience from a high school and/or collegiate golf team.
  • Must have strong communications and organizational skills
  • Must be able to multitask, think outside the box, think on their feet, and problem solve
  • Must have reliable transportation

Compensation: This is a paid internship. The intern will receive $10 per hour and will work a total of 320 hours between March 21st – July 10th and/or July 25th – November 20th.

Golf Operations Intern

Golf Operations Intern

Job Overview: This position focuses on developing an intern’s critical thinking, research and analysis, and technical proficiency skills. Interns in this position will assist with administrative and marketing tasks, such as filing, researching, course photography, and creating company documents and flyers. This position is also responsible for administering golf shop retail services, such as reserving a tee time, checking in customers, and selling merchandise.

Term of Internship: The intern will work 260 to 320 hours between March 21st – July 10th and/or 260 to 320 hours between July 25th – November 20th

Number of Positions Available: 3

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with maintaining an accurate and up-to-date customer and donor database.
  • Assist with research as directed, as needed.
  • Assist with reconciliation of program and tournament financial and result summaries.
  • Assist with marketing as directed, as needed.
  • Assist with tournament operations as directed, as needed.
  • Assist with the administration of point of sales transactions and maintain the day-to-day golf reservation systems by reserving tee times and lessons, check-in customers, selling merchandise, and receiving payments.

Applicants Qualifications:
  • Must be at minimum a high school senior. No GPA minimum requirement
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft & Google software applications; Canva a plus, but not required
  • Must have strong communications and organizational skills
  • Must be able to multitask, think outside the box, think on their feet, and problem solve
  • Must have reliable transportation

Compensation: This is a paid internship. The intern will receive $10 per hour and will work a total of 320 hours between March 21st – July 10th and/or July 25th – November 20th.

Marketing & Events Intern

Marketing & Events Intern

Job Overview: This position focuses on developing an intern’s collaboration, critical thinking, and initiative skills. Interns in this position will assist with the planning and execution of tournaments & special events, community engagement efforts, social media management, graphic design work, mailings, and customer relations. This position will also assist with general marketing responsibilities such as updating existing web content, drafting communications, and creating new or updating existing presentation materials.

Term of Internship: The intern will work 320 hours between June 6th – August 7th.

Number of Positions Available: 3

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with pre-tournament/event, day of, and post-tournament/event responsibilities, such as player/guests’ information collection, equipment/signage set up, player/guest registration, awards presentations set up, and drafting tournament/event reports, distributing results, and tournament/event breakdown.
  • Assist with the creation of marketing and campaign strategies to promote Cedar Crest Golf Course.
  • Create graphics and draft communications for email and social media marketing campaigns and promotions.
  • Manage and promote Cedar Crest Golf Course’s social media outlets including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Vimeo.
  • Assist with the management of web content and presentation materials.
  • Assist with mailings.
  • Assist with photography and videography needs.

Applicants Qualifications:
  • Must have completed a minimum of 24 college credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • General Business, Marketing, or Sports Management degrees preferred, but not required
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft & Google software applications; Canva a plus, but not required
  • Must have strong communications and organizational skills
  • Must be able to multitask, think outside the box, think on their feet, and problem solve
  • Must have reliable transportation

Fundraising Intern

Fundraising Intern

Job Overview: This position focuses on developing an intern’s communication, interpersonal, and research & analysis skills. Interns in this position will assist with the planning, coordination, marketing, and communications of I AM a Golfer Foundation’s summer and fall fundraising events for the I AM a Golfer Foundation. This position will also double as a Marketing & Events Intern.

Term of Internship: The intern will work 320 hours between June 6th – August 7th.

Number of Positions Available: 2

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events and activities of the I AM a Golfer Foundation., such as working community events, monitoring registrations, and assisting with communications.
  • Assist the donor acknowledgment process
  • Assist with the preparation of I AM a Golfer Foundation’s promotional materials for solicitation.
  • Manage and promote I AM a Golfer Foundation’s social media outlets including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Vimeo.
  • Assist with the management of web content and presentation materials.
  • Assist with mailings.
  • Assist with photography and videography needs.
