10 Q’s With Rachel M.

Name: Rachel M.
Hometown: Dallas, Tx
School: Texas A&M Kingsville - Architecture Engineering

Why IAMGF? The foundation was brought to me. I played golf in high school and this is where we practiced. Tamney (Cedar Crest Business & Sales Manager) came up to me and said to apply for an internship over the summer and I applied. Then I heard more about what the foundation is doing and bringing more young people to play golf and I thought that was pretty cool and ever since then I’ve been a part of and I’m loving it.

What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to your IAMAGF? Being exposed to golf before becoming an intern. I’ve used my golf knowledge and I’m open to doing and learning new things at Cedar Crest and with the foundation.

Fun fact? I like word searches!

Post-internship career interest? My plan is to build community houses across Texas and maybe expand out of the state. So, I would like to get involved in that area of work.

Advice to prospective IAMGF applicants? Don’t do it for the money, do it for the experience because that will really help you in the long run and you'll be prepared.

One thing you would change or do differently? Nothing. Everything is fine the way it is.

The part you would have skipped if you could and what helped you get through it? One time I was supposed to be working in the grill but then I got switched to work outside and I got kind of frustrated, but I just stay calm about the situation. Because I didn’t know what the situation behind the move was. So, I’ve learned to stay positive when unexpected things happen.

The greatest highlight so far at IAMGF? Using my communication skills at a DAC qualifier. It was a fun experience!IMG 7484 2

One thing about IAMGF that you didn’t expect before arriving? I didn't expect how much golf really impacted people. Even though I’ve played golf I didn’t realize what it means to people and what it can do.

The thing you were most excited about when joining IAMGF?  The people. Meeting and getting to talk to people from the internship program and from Cedar Crest.
